San Clemente Island is the southernmost Channel Island, owned by the United States Navy. It is part of the Los Angeles County and it is administered by Naval Base Coronado (NBC).
Residents of SCI are a mix of civilian and military personnel, including members of SERG and other biologists who are part of the Natural Resource Office (NRO). SERG oversees the SCI Botany Program.
The current list of SCI/SERG projects includes: researching fire fuels, grassland restoration, revegetation, plant propagation, rare plants & sensitive species.
